The mission of the Harlan County Sheriff's Office:

While we are constitutionally obligated and entrusted with the collection of several millions of dollars in taxes and the service and protection of the courts, we shall still provide professional law enforcement services to all the citizens of Harlan County. We are committed to the protection of life, property, and the rights of our citizens in a fair, impartial and positive manner. We will strive to maintain the highest ethical and moral standards. You have my solemn promise as Sheriff of Harlan County while performing these duties, we shall treat everyone with respect, courtesy, and dignity regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, political affiliation, or belief.
