It is our mission within the Harlan County Sheriffs’ Office to promote a feeling of security and safety to the citizens of this community. We are here to provide the highest quality of law enforcement services related to the protection of life and property, by taking an active role to prevent criminal activity. We are committed to detecting and investigating all criminal activity; by the apprehension and incarceration of offenders and the enforcement of state and local criminal laws.

We fully acknowledge our duties to provide Harlan County with patrol and investigative services as well as security to our courts and offices within the Justice Center. We pride ourselves on ethics, honesty, openness, and fairness in our profession. We value respect, honoring the rights and dignity of each person we are called upon to serve. From my early days as an officer with the Evarts Police Department to serving as your Sheriff today, my goal has always been to make Harlan County a safer place to raise our families.  With teamwork between the community and your Sheriff’s Office, we can accomplish this goal.
